The Project Manager, Discovery Pharmacology will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of drug discovery programmes at COMPASS. The role will involve extensive interaction between COMPASS team members, CROs and our external collaborators.

COMPASS Pathways is a mental health care company dedicated to accelerating patient access to evidence-based innovation in mental health (https://compasspathways.com). Our focus is on improving the lives of those who are suffering with mental health challenges and who are not helped by current treatments. We are pioneering the development of a new model of psilocybin therapy, in which our proprietary formulation of synthetic psilocybin, COMP360, is administered in conjunction with psychological support.

Location: UK or US based (home based considered).

Reports to: Director of Discovery Pharmacology.

Roles and responsibilities

Main responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Close collaboration with Lead Scientists to support management of outsourced drug discovery activities, including contracting and logistics
  • Project management activities (eg critical path planning, budgets) to enable internal team to monitor project progress, facilitate decision making and ensure timely delivery of milestones
  • Primary point of contact for CROs and other external partners
  • Ensuring communication between scientists to adapt project plans according to latest knowledge and team strategy
  • Keeping key stakeholders informed about risks, problems and proposed solutions


  • Postgraduate degree in pharmacology or neuroscience, or closely-related life sciences discipline
  • Strong project management skills in the context of Pharma/Biotech
  • Experience of collaborating with CROs on preclinical scientific studies
  • Proven track record of delivering project milestones under time pressure
  • Good relationship management skills, ideally with experience of remote management of multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to multitask and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
