There are 22M+ Americans who suffer from treatment-resistant mental health conditions, meaning they’ve failed two or more conventional treatments. Our mission is to further innovative mental health treatments (ranging from FDA-approved psychedelic medicines to neuromodulation to digital therapeutics to novel molecular approaches) for those patients who are suffering the most.

First, we sell software to mental health practices. We integrate EHR, practice management, patient engagement, outcomes collection, and more into a single unified system — the “operating system for neuropsychiatry.” Our software is the first and only solution that solves specific challenges faced by innovative neuropsychiatric clinics and interventional psychiatrists. It utilizes automation and modern technology to enhance clinicians’ user experience while simultaneously improving the patient experience.

Secondly, this “operating system” functions as digital infrastructure and data engine that unlocks precision psychiatry and informs best practices for patient care. Through deep, multimodal data collection at scale and cutting-edge data science, our platform enables the discovery, development, and delivery of:
1. Next-generation therapeutics (e.g. novel classes of molecular therapeutics, psychedelic medicines, neuromodulation techniques, medication-assisted therapy, digital therapeutics)
2. Next-generation diagnostics (e.g. biomarkers and phenotypes developed from digital, blood-based, -omics, or neuroimaging assessments)
3. Data-based personalized treatment approaches

We are looking for a Head of Business Development, Life Sciences. This person will play a foundational role in Osmind’s growth by leading our commercial efforts with life science companies, such as biopharma and diagnostics companies. You will work closely with the executive and medical affairs teams to build out our entire function from scratch. This is a tremendous opportunity to lay the foundation for a major function in a fast-paced environment with a team that cares deeply about making an impact on the patients who need it the most.

Responsibilities

  • Lead our go-to-market effort of our product offerings for pharma spanning RWE, biomarker discovery, clinical trial recruitment and site selection, and more. Develop our value proposition and repeatable sales process for the discovery, development, and delivery of new therapeutics for neuropsychiatry
  • Spearhead key strategic go-to-market decision making which will impact broader company strategy. Key questions include:
  • Which pharma companies and programs (modalities, mechanisms of action, stages of development) should we target? How should we sequence and prioritize our GTM strategy?
  • What are the best structures to maximize value and recurring, predictable revenue? What is our pricing strategy?
  • How can we best adopt a land and expand strategy?
  • Work with our VP Life Sciences to needs find and deeply understand what pharma needs and translate those findings back to our clinical, data science, product, and engineering organizations
  • Develop our sales pipeline. Leverage connections, get intros, lead calls, sell to biopharma. Maintain robust relationships with pharma
  • Achieve revenue targets by selling our capabilities and closing complex, multi-year strategic collaborations
  • Serve as point person liaising with pharma team. Negotiate business terms and creative deal structures. Handle all of the detailed deal scoping, approvals, procurement, finance, legal, contracting, and more
  • Maintain a deep understanding of R&D pipelines, M&A activity, funding activity, asset development, etc. of potential customers and competitors
  • Build out and manage the commercial team as we scale our GTM strategy

Requirements

  • 5+ years within pharma BD or selling into pharma (e.g. RWE companies, CRO), with multiple deals sourced, negotiated, and closed; 10+ years of experience total
  • Strong interest in and understanding of RWE value propositions from clinical development through commercial
  • Exceptional strategic leadership skills, executive presence, and communication. You see the forest through the trees and can help navigate complex business and commercial decisions internally and externally with a high level of credibility
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Life Sciences buying process. You know how to navigate pharma inside and out, including which groups to approach, how to move deals along, and key stakeholders to build relationships with
  • Comfort with and excitement around uncertainty as we launch our pharma-facing go-to-market strategy and build a repeatable sales motion

Preferred

  • PhD in a scientific discipline, or MD to be able to better understand pharma technical requirements
  • MBA, for business acumen, or JD, for structuring skills, also would be a plus
  • Rolodex in neuropsychiatry pharma to take off on day one
  • Experience selling or purchasing RWE solutions
  • Strong interest in new-age mental health treatments such as psychedelic medicine
